And how I became a little witchy fairy

Once Upon A time ..

I've been practising yoga for over 10 years, and what started as a personal practice has gradually become a big part of who I am and the work I do today. My journey took me to India, where I completed my first 200-hour Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at Vrinda School of Yoga in 2019. In 2023, I returned for a 500-hour Advanced Multi-style training in Arambol, Goa. Since then, I've made it a point to return to India every year to continue practising and deepen my knowledge at Nirvana Yoga Shala. India has been one of my greatest teachers. Along the way, I've also explored different practices and completed further training in Tantra, Ayurveda and meditation, all of which have shaped the way I approach my work. So, where does The Enchanted Yogi come in? It's where my love for yoga meets my love for fantasy, folklore, witchcraft and all things a little whimsical. I created The Enchanted Yogi because I wanted to bring these worlds together, but also because I wanted to create something that goes beyond the yoga mat. I believe women need each other. We share experiences that connect us, yet we're so often encouraged to compete, shrink ourselves or fit into boxes that were never made for us. I want to create spaces where we can do the opposite. Where we can be radically, unapologetically ourselves. Loud, messy, emotional, silly, angry, joyful, vulnerable and everything in between. Where we can let our guard down, take up space and connect with one another. I truly believe there's medicine in that kind of sisterhood. And in these chaotic times, I think we need whimsy more than ever. We need room for imagination, for wonder, for creativity and for our inner child to run a little wild. I want to bring some of that back into our lives. A little pocket of magic where we can slow down, play, explore and remember that life doesn't always have to be so serious. On a more personal note, yoga has been deeply healing for me. Having struggled with my mental health when I was younger, I know first-hand how difficult things can get. It's something that informs the way I teach and the spaces I want to hold. I want to approach the practice with compassion and sensitivity, recognising that we all arrive with different stories, struggles and needs. There's room for the difficult stuff too. I'm not interested in spiritual bypassing or pretending that everything is sunshine and rainbows. Ultimately, I want The Enchanted Yogi to be a space where women can feel welcome, safe enough to be themselves, find connection, discover new things and have a bloody good time along the way. A little yoga, a little witchcraft, and a lot of sisterhood.
